This session presents a curricular approach which uses Vygotsky’s (1978) concept of semiotic mediation in classroom application, using art as “text” which mirrors language, to facilitate students’ participation in classroom discussion of expository texts and the composing of their own academic discourse, all while building English language proficiencies.
