College/University Level Rap Session: Giving Feedback on Students’ Writing: Best Practices
At this College and University Level RAP session, we will network and share best practices with other C/U colleagues. We will specifically look at what strategies have worked in giving feedback to students’ writing. This RAP session has the purpose of inviting all professionals who teach academic writing at any level (elementary, intermediate, advanced) in colleges and universities to talk about the effectiveness of feedback on students’ writing. Some of the questions that will be posed to the audience are:
1. What kind of feedback seems to be more effective in helping students notice the problems in their writing?
2. Do you mark every single mistake on your students’ writing? Why/why not?
3. How can we make sure that they incorporate our feedback in their revisions?
